A Robot in My Kitchen

In March we asked our students to complete the Spring semester from home. There is a particular challenge teaching hands-on mechanical engineering design remotely. Students in Professor Hod Lipson’s Robotics Studio class successfully prototyped in-home robot design. Inspired by this example, for the fall semester we have distributed hands-on engineering kits including a 3-D printer to every Mechanical Engineering senior so that they can do real hands-on engineering design from their home.
