Congratulations Class of 2021!

May 04 2021

Congratulations to our Mechanical Engineering graduates. Despite a year like no other in our lifetime, you have stayed true to your goals. We are so proud of all that you have endured and accomplished. You deserve to celebrate and be celebrated. The faculty and staff of Mechanical Engineering could not be prouder of you and all you have achieved.

Congrats to Adheli Gonzalez for winning the Wendell Award at Class Day!

Whether it is representing her classmates, excelling in the classroom, volunteering her time, or simply being a friendly and thoughtful person, Adheli Gonzalez best exemplifies the consummate mechanical engineer.  Her passion for service is evident in her every action.  From being the student representative on the mechanical engineering undergraduate committee, to the vice president of communications and head of the peer mentorship program in Engineering Student Council, Adheli always puts helping others first.  That service is coupled with a truly admirable ardor for expanding her knowledge.  Her research on underwater snake robots, work on computer graphics at McMaster-Carr, and her efforts to improve the steam distribution system in NYC show that her scholarship knows no bounds.

As a first-generation Latina student, Adheli has received numerous honors that emphasize her strong character.  She was a finalist in the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), served as an HSF STEM Summit Mentor, and was a Forbes Under 30 Scholar.  Still, even more important than all of the hard work and awards, is her personality.  Regardless of how hard she is working, or how stressful the semester has been, Adheli constantly emanates positivity.  Her constant encouragement ensures that she brings up others in her community with her as she continues to rise and grow.

Congrats Adheli Gonzalez!
