Applying for a Master's Degree
The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers a Master’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
All applications are administered by the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science. Complete the Graduate Engineering Application to apply.
Applicants for admission into the graduate program are required to have completed an undergraduate degree and to furnish an official transcript as part of the admissions application. Ordinarily, the candidate for a graduate degree will have completed an undergraduate course in the same field of engineering in which he or she seeks a graduate degree. However, if the student’s interests have changed, it may be necessary to make up basic undergraduate courses essential to graduate study in his or her new field of interest.
Application Instructions
Applicants have four options when applying for a Master’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering:
- Standard Track - Choose this option if you want to pursue an M.S. without pursuing a predefined elective concentration. To apply for this option, select "Mechanical Engineering Master of Science" in the Program field.
- M.S. with Elective Concentration in Biomechanics - To choose this elective concentration, select "Mechanical Engineering Master of Science" in the Program field when filling in the online application for the M.S. program and check "Biomechanics" under the Area of Research Interest field of the application.
- M.S. with Elective Concentration in Energy Systems - To choose this elective concentration, select "Mechanical Engineering Energy Systems Master of Science" in the Program field when filling in the online application for the M.S. program.
- M.S. with Elective Concentration in Micro/Nanoscale Engineering - To choose this elective concentration, select "Mechanical Engineering Micro/Nanoscale Engineering Master of Science" in the Program field when filling in the online application for the M.S. program.
- M.S. with Elective Concentration in Robotics and Control - To choose this elective concentration, select "Mechanical Engineering Master of Science" in the Program field when filling in the online application for the M.S. program and check "Robotics and Control" under the Area of Research Interest field of the application.
