mali water project
We have performed a preliminary review of prior and ongoing poverty alleviation projects in Mali, with a particular focus on the appropriate and efficient use of water resources. An initial review was carried out of available precipitation data, climate trends and future predictions. A further literature review on the use of irrigation in Mali, including different management systems and associated yields, has been initiated. This preliminary research forms the groundwork for a more in-depth study on the potential for poverty alleviation projects related to water use in Toya, a Millennium Village site near Tomboctou, in Northern Mali.
