lantern project

The Millenium Villages Lantern Project endeavors to find a sustainable solution to the lack of domestic electrical lighting in rural areas. Towards this end, the Lantern Project has two major technical efforts underway. First, to develop our own cheap, rechargeable, portable powerpack that can be used for a variety of purposes. This powerpack may be charged from either grid power or from a solar panel. Secondly, the Project evaluates commercially available lighting products that meet similar criteria. When appropriate, these may also be evaluated by potential consumers in the field.
