Professor Yao Elected SME Fellow

Prof. Larry Yao, the ME dept Chair, has
been elected to the College of Fellows of Society of Manufacturing Engineers
(SME). He joined SME in 1986 and has
been active in manufacturing research since.He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the research arm of
SME, North American Manufacturing Research Institute (NAMRI). This year he assumes the role of NAMRI
Secretary. “I am truly honored to have
been selected by my peers and look forward to working with them in the years
ahead,” he said. He will receive his award at the North American Manufacturing Research
Conference (NAMRC) scheduled for May 2009 in Greenville, South Carolina.
The SME College of Fellows was created to honor those members who have made outstanding contributions to the field of manufacturing. A Fellow is a member recognized by the manufacturing community as a contributor to the social, technological and educational aspects of the profession. The College has currently about 250 members from industry, academy and national labs.
