Faculty positions

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University invites applications for two tenure-track or tenured faculty positions at any professorial rank. The first position is sought in the field of energy sources/conversion/storage in areas such as solar cells, nano-structured materials for energy conversion, and storage, fuel cells, innovative technologies for distributed power generation, greenhouse gas mitigation and reducing the environmental and health impacts of fossil fuels, biofuels, and synthetic fuels.

The second position is sought in the field of bio-analysis/design/materials/ manufacturing in areas such as protein kinematics and dynamics, molecule based nanostructure and nanodevice design, biomimetics, cell printing, cellular therapies and artificial organs, and innovative technologies for regenerative medicine.

Applicants must hold a doctorate in an appropriate field and must have demonstrated an ability to conduct outstanding research, and show promise for excellent teaching. Successful candidates for a senior-level appointment must have a distinguished record of achievement as evidenced by leadership in their field of expertise, publications, professional recognition and extramural funding, as well as a commitment to excellence in teaching. The positions will be available beginning January 1, 2007. Review of applications will begin on September 1, 2006, and continue until the positions are filled.
